FAQ
At Isabella Grace, we believe finding your wedding dress should feel exciting, emotional and genuinely enjoyable.
Our carefully curated designer collections, warm personal styling and relaxed luxury boutique experience have helped nearly ten thousand brides find the one over the years.
Whether you know exactly what you’re looking for or have no idea where to start, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
Yes — all bridal appointments at Isabella Grace are by appointment only so we can give you our full attention in a relaxed, private setting.
Our appointments are designed to feel calm, personal and completely unrushed, giving you the time and space to enjoy the experience of finding your dress.
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for Saturdays.
Please see our Appointments page for further information.
Our Classic and Luxury Bridal Appointments are 90 minutes long.
This gives you plenty of time to explore styles, try on gowns and talk through everything with your stylist — without feeling rushed.
We recommend wearing nude underwear if possible, although this isn’t essential.
A strapless bra can sometimes help, but many bridal gowns have built-in structure so most brides choose to try dresses without one.
Most importantly, wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident.
Please ensure that you do not wear fake tan and that you keep your makeup to a minimum to ensure that our dresses are kept as beautiful as possible for all of our brides.
You don’t need to bring shoes to your appointment.
We are a shoeless boutique with beautiful plush cream carpets throughout, so we kindly ask all guests to remove outdoor shoes during their visit to help keep the boutique clean and luxurious for every bride.
When trying on gowns, brides stand on our styling podiums so you can still see the shape, movement and overall look of each dress beautifully.
If you’ve already chosen your wedding shoes, you’re very welcome to bring them along later for fittings and alterations appointments.
We recommend bringing 1–3 of the people whose opinions matter most to you. For brides who wish to bring 4 guests we offer our Luxury Appointment.
Too many opinions can sometimes feel overwhelming and make choosing your dress more difficult, so keeping your group small often creates the most enjoyable experience.
Most importantly, bring people who make you feel confident, supported and excited.
Absolutely.
Many of our brides visit us alone and actually love having the opportunity to focus entirely on how they feel in each dress.
Your stylist will guide and support you throughout the whole experience, so you’ll never feel on your own.
Completely normal.
Most brides feel nervous before their first appointment, especially if they’ve never tried on bridal gowns before.
Our job is to make you feel comfortable, relaxed and supported from the moment you walk through the door. There’s no pressure, no expectation and no “right” body type — just a calm, enjoyable experience focused entirely on helping you find a dress you love.
That’s incredibly common — and actually part of the fun.
Many brides are surprised by the styles they end up loving. Your stylist will help guide you through different silhouettes, fabrics and details to help you discover what feels most like you.
Whilst all of us here genuinely adore children (and most of our consultants have at least two each!), we are not a particularly child-friendly environment.
Under the terms of our insurance, our boutique is only suitable for babes in arms under 9 months old or children over 9 years old. We kindly ask that if babies do attend, you bring someone with you who can look after them during the appointment.
We want to devote our full attention to looking after you and helping you find your perfect dress, while also maintaining the calm, relaxed atmosphere of the boutique for all brides.
Please also note that we do not have space for pushchairs or prams on Saturdays.
Yes of course — although instead of photographing every single dress, which can rather interrupt the flow of the appointment and take away from how you are feeling in each dress, we recommend taking photos of the favourite dress(es) at the end.
Photos can be really helpful when comparing dresses afterwards, especially if you’re deciding between favourites or sharing your experience with loved ones who couldn’t attend.
To help maintain the relaxed, private atmosphere of the boutique and ensure all brides feel comfortable, we kindly ask that filming and video recording are not permitted during appointments.
CHOOSING YOUR DRESS
Ideally, we recommend shopping for your wedding dress 12–18 months before your wedding date.
Designer gowns are made to order and can take up to 6 months to arrive, with additional time needed for alterations.
If your wedding is sooner than this, please don’t panic — we also have options available for shorter timelines.
Don’t worry — we can often still help.
Many of our designers offer rush order options, and we may also have sample gowns available to purchase from the boutique. These can be seen on our Sale page, which is updated daily.
Please contact us with your wedding date, and we’ll talk you through the best options available.
There’s no strict limit.
Your stylist will help you narrow down styles thoughtfully so the experience never feels overwhelming, while still giving you enough variety to discover what you truly love.
Our dresses start from £1500 and go up to £5700 with many gowns falling between £1800–£3500 depending on the designer and style. We also have a great selection of Sale dresses which start from £495.
If you have a budget in mind, please let your stylist know — we’ll always work thoughtfully within it.
Yes — we offer flexible payment options to help spread the cost of your gown.
Your stylist will happily talk you through the options available during your appointment.
Yes — our website is updated daily, so the gowns you see online are the dresses we currently have available to try on in the boutique at that time.
We have approximately 200 wedding dresses in store, carefully curated across our designer collections. In fact, many brides tell us that visiting Isabella Grace feels like visiting 2–3 bridal boutiques in one appointment because of the variety of styles we offer.
SIZING & SAMPLE DRESSES
Yes — absolutely.
We believe every bride deserves to feel incredible when trying on wedding dresses, and creating a warm, supportive and body-positive experience is hugely important to us.
Wedding dress sizing is very different from normal high street sizing, so please don’t be alarmed by the number on the label. It is completely normal for brides to wear a wedding dress that is 2–3 sizes larger than their usual clothing size — and sometimes more depending on the designer and style.
The most important thing is not the size on the label, but how beautifully the dress fits and makes you feel.
We have over 200 gowns in the boutique, with the majority of our sample dresses available in bridal sizes 12–16, alongside a selection of gowns either side of this. This allows us to cater comfortably for many brides up to approximately a UK high street size 16/18.
As much as we would love to, it simply isn’t possible for us to stock every gown in multiple sizes, so we usually carry one sample size of each dress in the boutique. However, depending on the designer, most gowns can be ordered in sizes 0–32.
Please don’t worry if a sample dress doesn’t fit perfectly when trying it on. Our experienced bridal stylist have lots of styling techniques to help you visualise how the gown would look in your size — from expertly pinning and clipping dresses that are too large, to using modesty panels when a gown doesn’t fully fasten. Very often, brides are surprised by just how beautifully a dress can still look and feel, even if the sample isn’t their exact size.
Wedding dress sizing is very different from normal high street sizing, so please don’t be alarmed by the number on the label.
Bridal designers tend to use more traditional sizing charts and wedding dresses typically have no degree of stretch in them, which means it is completely normal for brides to wear a wedding dress that is 2–3 sizes larger than their usual clothing size — and sometimes more depending on the designer and style of the gown.
This is something almost every bride experiences, and it’s important to remember that the size itself really doesn’t matter. The most important thing is choosing the dress you love and ensuring it fits you beautifully.
When you order your gown, we will take your bust, waist and hip measurements and use the designer’s specific size chart to recommend the best size for you. Your dress will then be professionally tailored during alterations to achieve the perfect fit.

ORDERING & ALTERATIONS
Measurements are usually taken once you’re ready to place your order. However if you are on a weight loss journey we can also delay measurements to a future date if time allows.
At the point of measurements, your stylist will carefully measure you and recommend the most appropriate size based on the designer’s sizing chart and fit of the gown.
Bridal sizing is very different to high street sizing, so please don’t focus on the number on the label — the most important thing is achieving the best possible fit.
Yes — nearly all wedding dresses require alterations in order to achieve the perfect fit.
When you choose your gown, we will take your bust, waist and hip measurements and use these to select the closest size from the designer’s size chart. As none of us fit a size chart perfectly, it is completely normal for bridal gowns to need adjustments once they arrive.
These appointments are known as bridal fittings, and your first fitting will usually take place approximately 10–12 weeks before your wedding date.
Most brides will require two fittings, although occasionally a third fitting may be needed if bespoke design changes or more detailed alterations are being made to the gown.
We work with an incredible team of highly experienced independent bridal seamstresses who specialise in wedding dress alterations and couture-level finishing.
Alteration costs vary depending on the gown and the adjustments required.
As a guide, we recommend budgeting approximately £350–£500 for standard bridal alterations. Please note this does not include major resizing or custom design changes, which may incur additional costs.
All alterations are carried out and charged independently by the seamstress, with payment made directly to them.
Bridal alterations usually begin approximately 10–12 weeks before your wedding date.
Most brides will have two fittings with their seamstress to ensure the gown fits beautifully, although occasionally a third fitting may be needed if bespoke design changes or more detailed alterations are required.
Your seamstress will guide you through the timings and fitting schedule based on your dress, wedding date and any alterations needed, and we’ll talk you through the full process once you say yes to your gown.
AFTER YOU’VE FOUND YOUR DRESS
The moment you find your dress is such a special one — and we absolutely love celebrating it with you.
Once you’ve said yes, we’ll celebrate together with a glass of fizz, take some photographs if you’d like them, and make sure you have a moment to really soak it all in. It’s such an exciting part of the bridal journey and one we never take for granted.
We’ll then take your measurements and place your order with the designer, carefully guiding you through everything you need to know about timings, fittings and what happens next.
From the moment you choose your dress right through to your wedding day, we’ll be here to support you every step of the way.
