How did you meet?
We met at British Military Fitness, a fitness class run by ex-military professionals.
Tell us about the proposal!
We were on holiday in Portugal and Matt insisted on a bike ride to the beach. I had arrived a few days later than Matt due to work and was not so keen on a bike ride after being up since 4am! He was very insistent, so I agreed. When at the beach he kept saying he wanted to try out the camera on his new phone and so got me to take a few panoramic shots. Unbeknown to me he was planning to get down on one knee at the end of panoramic but other people got in the photo. On a second attempt I turned around to see him on one knee holding the most beautiful engagement ring! I think my first response was “what are you doing?!” but then obviously I said yes and cried!
How did you choose where to shop for your wedding dress?
Several of my friends had got their wedding dresses from Isabella Grace and they were just stunning. They all said you won’t want to go anywhere else and they were right!
Tell us about your wedding dress experience, and why did you choose your wedding dress.
This was the most incredible day! The treatment myself and bridal party received was second to none. On arrival we were taken to a stunning room and discussed the wedding plans and my thoughts on a dress. I was taken to select 5 dresses, which was so difficult as I loved so many. When trying them on none of them were quite right but the amazing lady helping us listening to everything and brought in ‘The Dress’. The dress was far too big but you wouldn’t have known because I was pinned in perfectly. I was then taken to the front of the shop to see the dress in the best light, which is where I said ‘yes to the dress’…queue the tears! We celebrated with bubbles and lots of excitement!
Describe your wedding day. Where, when, how…
We got married on Friday 10th August 2018 at St Mary’s Church in Battle and then on to Blackstock Country Estate in Hellingly for the reception. The day started with a trip to the salon for hair and make-up, accompanied by bubbles, of course! This is when the rain started, biblical showers! We got back to my parents’ house to meet the florist and see the beautiful flowers and the photographers. My mum presented me with her childhood locket (something old) which she had engraved for me and attached to my bouquet…queue more tears!
We travelled to the church in a VW Campervan driven by the fantastic George of 1066 Wedding Cars. On arrival we were met by more rain, fortunately my Dad had invested in a beautiful white umbrella. The churched was adorned with beautiful hydrangeas, roses and gypsophila and I was sung down the aisle by the amazing opera singer, Louise Winter to Ave Maria. Matt and I both fought back the tears as I arrived at the altar where we said our vows and became husband and wife. The weather continued to attempt to hamper our plans, causing a power cut at the venue and blew my veil off (chased and caught by our lovely driver, George) but none of this mattered, it made some amazing memories and photos!
Blackstock were the most amazing venue, they couldn’t do enough to ensure we had the best day. The food was first class and they were so thoughtful when it came to the weather, making an umbrella line for us to be welcomed into barn for our Wedding Breakfast.
Then came the most amazing sunset and stunning photos taken by our photographer team, Debbie and James! They captured they day perfectly from start to finish and never failed to make everyone smile.
Our first dance was to Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden, which was sung by our wedding band, Victoriana. The band sung us in to married life in style, ensuring the dance floor was never empty.
Favourite part of your wedding day?
Stepping into the church with my Dad and seeing so many of our special friends and family and Matt waiting for me at the end of aisle.
Anything you would change if you could do it all again?
Maybe slightly less rain…
Your top tip for future brides?
Take a step back to take it all in and enjoy every second, the day goes so fast! I want to do it all again.
