How did you meet?
Danny and I met in Newcastle whilst I was on a hen weekend and he was on a football weekend in April 2015. Danny was from Dublin and I was from Kent so it was an unlikely match to begin with, however, it must have been love at first sight as since we met we spoke every day and travelled every weekend, if not every other to see one another. This lasted for three years until I took the plunge to move to Dublin!
Tell us about the proposal!
We were on holiday in Majorca and Danny had pre-organised a private dinner for us in a secluded part of a restaurant. When we turned up there was a table dressed in petals and surrounded by candles with beautiful music playing in a private garden just for us. I remember Danny getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him, it took a few minutes for me to gather myself before I could muster a yes!
How did you choose where to shop for your wedding dress?
Several of my friends bought their wedding dresses from Isabella Grace and I knew there was nowhere better for me to pick the perfect dress. Isabella Grace was the first and only bridal shop I visited and my wedding dress was the third one I tried.
Tell us about your wedding dress experience, and why did you choose your wedding dress.
My experience with Isabella Grace was perfect, from the moment I made my appointment to the morning I collected my dress, everything was seamless. I arrived to my appointment with my mother, grandmother and Maid of Honour and I had an idea of what I didn’t want to try, not what I did. After selecting a number of dresses I thought I might like, my mother picked out the dress I ended up wearing on my wedding day. It was not a dress I would have picked myself and Amy, the lady assisting me with my choices encouraged me to be open minded and I am so glad she did! From the moment I put on the dress, I knew there would be no other.
Describe your wedding day. Where, when, how…
Danny and I decided to marry in his home country of Ireland and from there we set off on a journey to find the perfect venue for us. As luck would have it, the venue we picked was the first we had viewed, it seems to be the case that first is sometimes the best. We set a date of 7th September 2019 and began our journey to becoming husband and wife. We decided on a church wedding and located a beautiful Catholic Church which was near our wedding venue. The altar is something which only dreams could have imagined and we just knew we had to say our vows there. It wasn’t the easiest of journeys with me not being Catholic but the journey was worthwhile. On the day of our wedding the sun shone brightly and we were joined by both of our nearest and dearest. We couldn’t have been more blessed. From the moment I walked up the aisle the day was full of joy. To this day our wedding is still spoken about and the Irish certainly do know how to enjoy a wedding with our day finishing at 6am! When planning our wedding I wanted to ensure there was not a moment where people felt the duration of the day so I organised everything from a magician, singing waiter, live band, church singer and singing priest and it was seamless. Truly the most memorable day for all.
Favourite part of your wedding day?
My most favourite part of the day has to be the moment Danny and I walked down the aisle as husband and wife. We walked out to Stevie Wonders Signed, Sealed, Delivered, followed by our family and friends and our faces couldn’t have been more beaming. I have never felt so much overwhelming love.
Anything you would change if you could do it all again?
I truly wouldn’t change a thing or even take the chance to do it again because doing so might alter how perfect the day was for us.
Your top tip for future brides?
My top tip would be to enjoy every moment, the preparations, the lead up and the day itself. It goes by so quickly and it is how you felt and enjoyed the day which are the lasting memories… not if there was a candle missing! I would also make time for you and your husband, a minute or two in a quiet room, just to soak up the atmosphere and each other.
